Agency Honored with Silver for Winnebago Accessibility-Enhanced RV Trip that Garnered Nearly 8 Million Social Media Views

June 02, 2020 – Bulldog Reporter honored boutique clean energy and transportation public relations firm Technica Communications with a Silver Award in the Best Use of Influencers Category for the 2020 Bulldog PR Awards. The awards recognize the most outstanding public relations and communications campaigns from the past year and are the only PR awards program judged exclusively by journalists. Technica received the award based on their Accessibility-Enhanced (AE) RV Influencer Trip Campaign executed for the Specialty Vehicles Division of Winnebago Industries.

In 2019, the Specialty Vehicles Division of Winnebago Industries launched its Accessibility-Enhanced (AE) line of standardized motorhomes for people with mobility restrictions. This critical market is historically under-served by the industry. Technica identified influencer outreach as a vital area of PR support. For the campaign, Technica and Winnebago offered popular influencers “Roll with Cole & Charisma” a free trip in a Winnebago AE unit. In exchange, they used their social media channels to promote their adventure and the RV’s accessibility features.

During the trip, Technica tracked and evaluated reach, engagement, and impressions on the influencer feeds and coordinating posts on the Winnebago SV social channels. The top post garnered over 5.7 million views, and between Facebook, YouTube and Instagram stories, the campaign garnered nearly 8 million views. Additionally, the campaign had a total reach of almost 15,000, with over 45,000 unique impressions. With an engagement level of 1,131, and followers on the Winnebago AE social media accounts grew by nearly 15 percent. The sales team in the Specialty Vehicles department of Winnebago noted that sales inquiries and leads went up significantly during the range of time the trip was in effect.

“I’ve been a judge for nearly 10 years, and the work continues to improve—and not just the end product, but the thinking that goes into a campaign,” says Tom Hallman Jr., Pulitzer prize winning journalist and Bulldog Awards judge. “Some of the most creative people in communications are now in the PR field.”

The award panel of journalist judges selected winners from entrants in 46 categories. Learn more about Bulldog Awards at bulldogawards.com.
